The Project Amber Framework is an approach to road maintenance and repair that was born and nurtured in Blackpool. It has been adopted and further developed as an Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) initiative that is now available to every local highway authority in the UK.
The purpose of the Project Amber Framework is to facilitate collaboration, innovation and cost savings in the management of highways assets by breaking down perceived or actual barriers to participation from SMEs, who are typically at the forefront of advances on treatments and techniques for maintenance and repair.

“As a small business, it’s a great opportunity to show what we can do and grow that with other local authorities where we wouldn’t have previously been able to do.”
